"Type I: Most common and mildest form of von Willebrand disease. Levels of von Willebrand factor are lower than normal. Levels of factor VIII may also be reduced."

"Type 1: Some 80% of vWD patients have type 1 disease, and have lower than normal levels of vWF and factor VIII in their blood. Type 1 is generally referred to as a “mild” form of the disease, yet the range of clinical symptoms can vary from annoying to life-threatening.1 Persons with type 1 vWD do not produce enough vWF, but what they do produce is structurally and functionally normal. von Willebrand activity (measured via the ristocetin cofactor assay), vWF:Ag, and factor VIII are proportionately decreased; bleeding time is usually prolonged."
