"Type III: Severe von Willebrand disease. These people may have a total absence of von Willebrand factor and factor VIII levels are often less than 10%."

"Type 3: This type of vWD is rare and is usually associated with homozygous or compound heterozygous inheritance of two abnormal vWF alleles. In type 3 vWD, there is a nearly complete deficiency of vWF. vWF activity and vWF:Ag usually are undetectable, with factor VIII levels markedly reduced to <10%. These patients have essentially no multimers because of the marked reduction in vWF. The incidence of type 3 vWD is 1–2 cases per one million people"
